Eagles expect to be without CB Avonte Maddox for Monday night matchup vs. Commanders

Philadelphia Eagles head coach says he doesn’t expect slot CB Avonte Maddox to be available for Monday night against the Washington Commanders

The Eagles expect to be without slot cornerback Avonte Maddox for their Monday night matchup against the Washington Commanders.

Head coach Nick Sirianni said backup cornerback Josiah Scott would likely replace Maddox despite his ankle injury.

Maddox missed his second straight day of practice on Friday and is unlikely to participate in the Saturday morning walkthrough.

The Eagles will now rely on Scott to help contain Curtis Samuel, who has been in the slot for 68.7% of his offensive snaps per Pro Football Focus.

Samuel has had 45 catches for 455 yards and three touchdowns through nine games, with 50 yards receiving in each of his past three games, and he’ll be a key player to watch.
