Hurricane Nicole slammed into Florida’s eastern coast on Thursday, just south of Vero Beach, as a Category 1 hurricane, the first such storm to hit the U.S. in November in almost 40 years.
And even though the storm’s surge wasn’t the same ferocity as Hurricane Ian—the Category 4 monster that made landfall in late September and Florida is still recovering from—the Category 1’s wrath created a path of damage that has left thousands without power and millions of dollars in property destruction.
