Tale of the Tape: Team Stats – Notre Dame vs. Navy

Do you see this as being much of a contest?

All week, we’ve been talking about how different Notre Dame and Navy’s styles of play are from each other, but what does it mean exactly? If you’re an Irish fan (and we assume you are since you’re on this site), it doesn’t mean a whole lot since you’ve followed this 2022 team from the beginning. This is the same Irish that can defend, run the ball, limit penalties and first downs against and have long possessions. We’re just more aware of their strengths now in light of their win over Clemson.

For all the things the Midshipmen do differently, it pays off in a lot of areas. That military training most is shown in being the least penalized team in the country, and they’re even better in many of the Irish’s areas of strength. However, their scoring and passing don’t compare to most of college football, and that’s where the Irish need to take advantage. Otherwise, they could be in for a letdown.
