Jeffery Simmons denies talking to Chris Jones about Titans’ QB situation

Simmons took to social media to deny ever saying anything to Jones about the Titans’ QB situation.

After the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Tennessee Titans on Sunday night, Chris Jones told reporters that a conversation with Jeffery Simmons gave insight into what the Titans would do at quarterback with Ryan Tannehill dealing with an ankle injury.

However, Simmons has since denied that ever happened. Before we get to his response to Jones, here’s what the Chiefs defensive lineman said after the game.

“No, we [weren’t] surprised [Willis was the starter],” Jones said. “I talked to Jeff Simmons earlier during the week and we knew. You know, you got to pick their brain. We knew that he was going to play. Tannehill was in a boot, so we prepared for [Willis] well. I don’t think we gave up that many rushing yards against him. Second half, I just [saw it was] 27 plays, seven yards. Kudos to the defense. We played a hell of a game — second half I would say, first half we kind of gave up some leaky yardage. But, a heck of a team win.”

Jones did crack a smile when he mentioned talking to Simmons, so it’s possible he was just messing around with his friend.

However, Simmons isn’t taking it lightly. On Monday, he took to Twitter to deny that ever happened.

I personally find it hard to believe Simmons would ever divulge any kind of information to an opponent, friend or not.

Besides, it’s not like it was some big secret that Malik Willis might start, as it was clear Tannehill wasn’t exactly progressing much after missing the Week 8 contest with the same injury.

It’ll be interesting to see if Jones responds to Simmons or just leaves it as is.
