As the 2022 college football season rolls on, UNC quarterback Drake Maye continues to impress as the Tar Heels are now 8-1 overall and 5-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
Through 9 games, Maye has thrown for 2,964 yards, 31 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions. He’s added 439 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns as well, another dynamic to his game.
With Maye continuing to impress and play well, the national media is starting to take notice to this as well. And on Saturday, before UNC’s win over Virginia, ESPN’s David Pollack had more praise for Maye.
On College GameDay, Pollack spoke highly on Maye and even compared him to former Oregon Star and current NFL quarterback Justin Herbert:
Bold call by @davidpollack47 on @CollegeGameDay today. He said UNC's Drake Maye is the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft. He called him "Justin Herbert 2.0."

Pollack was referring to the style of play and that’s a great compliment for Maye to have. Herbert had a successful career at Oregon before moving to the NFL where he was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and has established himself as one of the best young quarterbacks in the game.
That’s a hell of a comparison.
Maye isn’t eligible to come out until the 2024 NFL draft which will also have USC’s Caleb Williams in that draft. But right now, Maye is making a strong case to be QB1 in that class with all the tools he has.
