The Philadelphia 76ers are 4-6 — a slow start for everybody involved. The Sixers have not been the defensive team they envisioned after the offseason additions, and the offense has been inconsistent.
The offseason additions have been helpful in some ways, but one addition, Danuel House Jr., has had a slow start.
After shooting 41.5% from deep in 25 games for the Utah Jazz in the 2021-22 season, House Jr. is down to 31.3% to begin the season for the Sixers, and he is shooting 37% from the floor overall in nine games to begin the season.
Bleacher Report has identified a disappointing factor for each team to begin the 2022-23 season and, for the Sixers, that factor has been House Jr.:
Philly’s summer renovations to its supporting cast have mostly clicked. P.J. Tucker is once again splashing corner threes and pestering scorers of all sizes. De’Anthony Melton is energizing this team with defense and transition attacks.
Danuel House Jr. is the lone exception. He should be a clean three-and-D fit for the Sixers stars — he played his best ball alongside James Harden in Houston — but there hasn’t been enough threes or defense.
House Jr. has a history of being able to contribute and produce at a high level. The start is slow, but it shouldn’t be a cause for concern. The veteran out of Texas A&M will find a way to get through this slump he’s currently in, and he will be a key piece to whatever success Philadelphia has.
