Have you ever played “Madden NFL” and realized you could win because you kept running the ball, and the opposing defense couldn’t stop it? That was Notre Dame during one of its second-quarter possessions against Clemson. Ten of the 11 plays on the 78-yard drive were runs, and the Irish didn’t move backwards once. It culminated in this 5-yard touchdown run by [autotag]Drew Pyne[/autotag], who got some assistance from a [autotag]Michael Mayer[/autotag] block:

The touchdown extended the Irish’s lead to 14-0, which is where the score stood at halftime. Even with 30 minutes still to play, it’s become clear that the Irish are a threat to the Tigers’ ascent this season. It’s possible that the first half is wiped out by a dominant second half for the Tigers, and they escape South Bend with their perfect record intact. Right now, it’s looking like they’ll be lucky to have that happen.
