According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, the Pittsburgh Steelers are finalizing a trade to bring Washington Commanders cornerback William Jackson III to Pittsburgh. The Steelers earlier traded away wide receiver Chase Claypool to the Chicago Bears.
According to NFL reporter, the Steelers and Commanders are swapping late-round picks to make the trade happen which is a bargain for Pittsburgh. The Steelers had targeted Jackson as their top cornerback in 2016 but when he was taken just ahead of Pittsburgh by the Cincinnati Bengals, the Steelers chose to reach for Artie Burns.
Adding Jackson gives the Steelers a legitimate No. 1 cornerback on the roster. The Pittsburgh secondary was exposed last week against the Philadelphia Eagles when they had no cornerback who could run with Philadelphia wide receiver A.J. Brown.
