A quiet time before the NFL’s trade deadline in Detroit suddenly woke up with a major move. The Lions have traded tight end T.J. Hockenson to the Minnesota Vikings for multiple draft picks. The news was first reported by NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Details of the deal:
The Lions send Hockenson, a 2023 fourth-round pick and a conditional 2024 fourth-rounder to the Vikings in exchange for a 2023 second-round pick and a 2024 third-round pick.
Hockenson is under contract through the 2023 season on a $9.4 million fifth-year option. After that, the Vikings now control his rights. The Lions are free of any cap obligation.
