#Saints RB Mark Ingram suffered a grade 2 MCL sprain, source said, which means he’s likely out 3-4 weeks. Could have been a lot worse for Ingram, who will be back soon.

That’s no good. The New Orleans Saints will be without veteran running back Mark Ingram II for the next three to four weeks, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who reports Ingram suffered an MCL sprain in his knee during Sunday’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The Saints initially said Ingram was questionable to return midgame, but later ruled him out altogether.
Ingram has had an up-and-down season so far, running 51 times for 196 rushing yards and a score while catching 11 receptions for another 46 receiving yards through 8 games. But the Saints are left shorthanded at running back without him: Alvin Kamara and Dwayne Washington are on the 53-man roster with Jordan Howard and Jake Funk on the practice squad.
So the Saints could look to make a move at the NFL trade deadline to reinforce the position behind Kamara, though if they’re optimistic Ingram can return in just a few weeks they might be better off standing pat. It’s something to watch before Tuesday’s deadline.
