A 76ers fan rapped about firing coach Doc Rivers, and it’s the best diss track in sports history

“He won with young Kawhi, you lost with Kawhi in his prime.”

The Philadelphia 76ers (1-4) have had a rough start to the 2022-23 NBA season, and one fan expressed his frustration with creativity.

A Philly-based musician, who goes by @PrezzCarter on Twitter, posted a video on TikTok that absolutely ethered head coach Doc Rivers. Over an ominous and menacing beat used by Rick Ross on his Birdman diss track “Idols Become Rivals” (2017), this song systematically dismantles Rivers.

Carter was comprehensive and methodical with his approach, referencing every possible criticism of Rivers from his tenure with the 76ers and his time with the Clippers and Celtics. It’s legitimately impressive work.

There are several strong bars, but when he hits his stride, it’s actually filthy:

“How you compare yourself to Gregg Popovich?

At this point, you and him are polar opposites.

The lead you blew in The Bubble is considered a crime.

He won with young Kawhi, you lost with Kawhi in his prime.

Lob City Clippers led by CP3, you the reason they call Paul George Pandemic P.

KG, Paul Piece, Rondo, Ray Allen.

You got one ring to show for all that talent.”

The song also questions Rivers’ in-game adjustments, sympathizes with why Ben Simmons didn’t want to play for his team, and references when former Lakers coach Phil Jackson said Rivers “knew how to lose” during a playoff game.

He also says it’s “cap” that Rivers was named a top 15 coach of all-time.

Even if you’re not even kind of a fan of the Sixers, you should listen to this song. It is entertaining to watch this fan just ether Rivers as well as he did, even if you don’t have much opinion on the coach one way or another.
