What CFP rankings would look like after Week 8 of college football

Projecting how the CFP rankings would look after Week 8

It was a relatively quiet week of college football with many teams taking the week off to prepare for the second half of the season.

That’s not to say there was no excitement in Week 8. We saw Ohio State, Tennessee and Alabama roll to victories. Clemson used a big fourth quarter to beat Syracuse in a ranked battle while LSU derailed Ole Miss’ quest for an SEC West title. In the Big 12, TCU beat Kansas State and Oklahoma State topped Texas. Oregon continues to impress after its season-opening loss to Georgia. The Ducks beat UCLA, 45-30, in a top-10 matchup.

Though the first round of College Football Playoff rankings are not released until Nov. 1, I tried to think like a member of the committee and projected what the they would look like if released today.

Finding its way into the rankings are Tulane and Liberty, which are 7-1. Tulane has a big win over Kansas State on its record. Liberty just beat BYU, 41-17, and its only loss came by one in a thriller at Wake Forest.
