Arizona Cardinals cornerback Marco Wilson had his first career interception in Week 7 when he picked off New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton in the second quarter and returned it for a touchdown. That play was enough to get him recognized by the league.
He was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week Wednesday morning.
It is the first time in his two-year career he has received the honors and he becomes the 35th player in Cardinals history to be named the defensive player of the week.
Wilson’s interception and touchdown gave the Cardinals a 20-14 lead. They never trailed after that point. It was the only go-ahead defensive score of Week 7.
