Sometimes, when Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin talks about his players, you can tell it just pains him to offer too many compliments and he chooses to keep them humble by not praising them publicly.
This is not the case when it comes to the guys Pittsburgh is playing. During his Tuesday press conference, Tomlin said more positive things about Hurts in a matter of about 45 seconds than he has said about all three of his quarterbacks all season long.
Pittsburgh took on Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen earlier in the season and the threat that Hurts poses is very similar. As Tomlin noted, Hurts intangibles and leadership are off the charts and his athletic traits make him even more difficult to scheme against.
Tomlin also noted when Hurts was in the 2020 NFL draft, he and the Steelers did not scout him at all. Hurts went in the second round to the Eagles and have turned into one of the best all-around quarterbacks in the league.
