The last new map to come to Apex Legends – Stormpoint – came out over a year ago now, so it’s high time that something new comes along to shake things up. This takes the form of the new map Broken Moon, which will be joining the game alongside Apex’s first transgender character, Catalyst.
“Broken Moon is a terraforming project commissioned by the Cleo Recovery Council, as a result of the catastrophic meteor impact that occurred in 2708,” says the official blurb. “With the help of the Boreas Science Division, the moon became a habitable environment by 2715. To further fund colonization, the government entered into a contract with the Syndicate to bring the Apex Games to the moon.”

The team at Respawn made a much more focused map this time around. Stormpoint drew criticism for being too big, so Broken Moon is smaller – about the same size as World’s Edge – and has fewer uphill battles. It’s also easier to traverse with zip lines that provide an almost perfect circuit around the map.
They’re fun and easy to use, letting you shoot and throw grenades like a normal zipline, but with much faster movement. It makes them perfect for quick exits or surprise attacks. Respawn’s developers have noted some exciting moments involving these lines. They’ve seen high-speed chases across the wires, aggressive pushes, and even jousting, where teams line up on either end and charge toward the middle.
This map also ensures that there are fewer fights on the drop. With far bigger POIs, teams can break off on a contested drop and there’s plenty of loot to go around between teams. That’s not to say there aren’t still some intense drops and quick conflicts, but everyone should have a bit more breathing room.
Here are all the Broken Moon POIs.
