After receiving his fourth championship ring and seeing the Golden State Warriors 2022 championship banner hoisted into the rafters at San Francisco’s Chase Center, Steph Curry didn’t take long to get work against the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2022-23 regular-season opener.
The reigning NBA Finals Most Valuable Player looked in midseason form with a smooth fadeaway early in the first quarter. After a quick crossover from Curry, the Warriors guard drove to the basket with 7:30 remaining in the first frame. However, Lonnie Walker IV swatted the ball away from Curry.
After Curry recovered the basketball, the eight-time All-Star guard shook Walker IV to get open for a tough fadeaway jumper that swished through the bottom of the net.

Curry’s fadeaway was just a preview of an impressive performance from the four-time champion. Curry finished with a game-high 33 points on 10-of-22 shooting from the floor with four made 3s, seven assists and six boards in 33 minutes during Golden State’s 123-109 victory over Los Angeles.
After sealing a win on opening night, Curry and the Warriors will be back on the floor on Friday night at Chase Center against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.
