Bryan Harsin: ‘We’re a lot closer than it seems’

Auburn showed signs of improvement on Saturday, but are nowhere near where they want to be.

Auburn made strides in their 48-34 loss to Ole Miss, but there is still plenty to improve on.

After allowing Ole Miss to jump out to a 21-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter, Auburn bounced back by trimming the lead to 28-17 by halftime. The Tigers also improved in 2nd half scoring by posting 17 points, which is the most points that Auburn has scored in the second half of a game since last season.

Head coach [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] was pleased with the improvements that Auburn showed against Ole Miss, and says that they are becoming more competitive at a rapid rate.

“When we watch film, those guys know that we are a lot closer than it seems. A few things here and there, that is what changes the game. But that’s football as well,” Harsin said after the game. “The reality of it, is that we didn’t win. Ole Miss did. They did it better than we did today. So what we have to do is go back and figure out what we can control and how we are going to improve and get better and what we can do going into the next game to find a way to win.”

Auburn will take their bye week this upcoming week, giving them two weeks to work on themselves before returning to Jordan-Hare Stadium to face Arkansas on Oct. 29.
