Titans vs. Commanders: Next Gen Stats report for Week 5

Shaun Calderon breaks down some key numbers from Next Gen Stats after the Titans’ Week 5 victory.

The Tennessee Titans (3-2) found a way to squeak out a hard-fought, 21-17 road victory over the Washington Commanders (1-4). In typical Titans fashion, it wasn’t pretty, but the team found a way to win.

The Titans’ three wins have all been by one possession, which isn’t ideal for fans’ anxiety, but it speaks volumes about the culture that Mike Vrabel, Jon Robinson, and Amy Adams-Strunk has built since their arrival.

It wasn’t long ago that Tennessee used to find different ways to lose games like these, but more often than not, they now find a way to win these ugly games that appear to be slipping away.

This game had a bunch of twists and turns in it, and the analytics crew over at Next Gen Stats (NGS) does a fantastic job at keeping track of everything that went on throughout the game.

So with all that said, let’s take a closer look at what stood out after reviewing the Next Gen Stats data following the Titans’ 21-17 victory.
