Josh Heupel discusses being proud of his players, thanks fans after LSU win

Josh Heupel discusses being proud of his players and thanks fans after Tennessee’s win at LSU.

No. 8 Tennessee (5-0, 2-0 SEC) defeated LSU (4-2, 2-1 SEC), 40-13, Saturday at Tiger Stadium in Week 6.

Following the win, second-year Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel discussed his team’s performance.

“I’m proud of our guys,” Heupel said. “They played extremely hard, and they did a lot of good things offensively, we put the ball in the end zone and had a lot of good red zone possessions. Defensively, we controlled the line of scrimmage, created some negatives in the run game, and got off the field on third down. Special teams were solid besides the one return. A lot of good things happened, and it was a good win.

“I cannot say enough about our fanbase, they were phenomenal. Driving in and seeing all the orange, then entering the stadium and everywhere inside of the stadium was orange. I just really appreciate our fanbase, and our players do too. We fight for them so thank you.”

Heupel further discussed Tennessee’s win, along with Hendon Hooker and Byron Young, and is listed below.
