A big offensive boost could be coming for the New England Patriots with top receiving target Jakobi Meyers expected to make his much-anticipated return on Sunday.
Meyers injured his knee in the team’s Week 2 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. So the possibility of him taking the field against a Detroit Lions team with the No. 1-ranked scoring offense in the league is perfect timing for the Patriots.
Mac Jones is still pushing to start under center, but Meyers could be catching passes from rookie quarterback Bailey Zappe for the very first time in a meaningful NFL game.
#Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers is expected to play tomorrow against the Lions, per league source. Meyers has missed two straight games with a knee injury.

Even when the receiving corps has struggled, Meyers has steadily been the most consistent offensive weapon for the Patriots. He’s caught 13 receptions for 150 yards over the course of two games.
It’ll be interesting to see how he fits in the offense with DeVante Parker and Nelson Agholor slowly starting to heat up as well. Things might finally be on the up and up for the struggling unit.
