It is Friday which means that Florida football’s return to the gridiron is just a day away. This weekend, the Orange and Blue hosts the Missouri Tigers for its 2022 homecoming game — the third time one of the two most recent additions to the Southeastern Conference has served as the opponent for the annual alumni event.
The Gators enter the game with a 3-2 record but an 0-2 mark in SEC play while their Saturday matchup carries a 2-3 tally while also having lost its two games in conference play so far. However, one of Florida’s wins did come over a top-25 school — the season-opening victory over the Utah Utes, who were ranked in the top 10 of both major polls entering the season-opener.
The visitors hold the all-time edge in this series, 6-5, going back to the 1966 Sugar Bowl, which Florida lost, 20-18. The two schools did not meet again until the Tigers joined the SEC in 2012; since then, they have split their 10 games facing each other.
