Billy Donovan says Dalen Terry ‘raised the energy of our team’ in preseason opener

The Bulls’ rookie knows playing hard on the defensive end is key to earning minutes.

The first preseason game is in the books for the Chicago Bulls and the team is already impressed with rookie Dalen Terry.

In his preseason debut in a Bulls uniform, Terry finished with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals on 5-of-7 shooting while being extremely active and energetic on both ends of the floor, which was noticed by Billy Donovan and company.

“I thought he raised the energy of our team and certainly got the place excited,” Donovan said following Tuesday’s loss to New Orleans.

For a rookie, showcasing two-way ability and an all-out energetic mentality is important to get on the floor and Terry knows that.

“I was just staying ready,” Terry said. “I know defense is my way on to the court.” Terry said he spoke with Ayo Dosunmu on how excelled in his rookie year last season, preaching that the key is to ‘play hard’, which Terry has no issue doing.
