Hendon Hooker has been a revelation at quarterback for the Tennessee Volunteers and their fanbase. I don’t think it is a stretch to say that Hooker is the best Tennessee quarterback since Erik Ainge graduated in 2007.
I know there are a few people that will debate Joshua Dobbs was a good quarterback as well. I would agree that he was good, but he wasn’t great.
Hooker is one of the top quarterbacks in the country. In four games this season, he has thrown for 1,193 yards, eight touchdowns and zero interceptions while maintaining a completion rating of 72%.
[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] was asked what he thought about Hooker.
“Big, athletic, strong, and if you think of him just as that, that’s where you get beat because he can throw the football as well. I just think he’s a great competitor,” Kelly said of Hooker. “First of all, he plays in an up-tempo offense. It’s the fastest offense in the country, obviously out-producing everybody. And then you have a guy that certainly is not getting the kind of notoriety yet, but I’ve seen a lot of really good quarterbacks and this guy is as good as anybody I’ve gone against. He has the ability to break your defense down. When he gets outside, he’s big and physical, and makes things happen.”
LSU welcomes the Vols to Baton Rouge on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. CT.
