The week is nearly halfway over as Florida football prepares for its 2022 homecoming game against the Missouri Tigers in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The two Southeastern Conference foes enter the game without a win bearing equal 0-2 records but something will have to give once the foot hits the leather at noon on Saturday.
The Gator have alternated wins and losses so far this season, earning an upset victory in the opening game against Utah before succumbing to Kentucky the following weekend. The Orange and Blue then rebounded — albeit with a lackluster performance — against USF before traveling to Knoxville to get knocked out by the Vols. A win over FCS Eastern Washington last Sunday gives Florida a little bit of momentum coming into the weekend.
Conversely, Mizzou has lost both of its last two games, with an overtime loss against Auburn in Week 4 before a fourth-quarter comeback by Georgia made it two in a row last week. Prior to that, the Tigers had seized victory against Louisiana Tech and Abilene Christian while dropping its matchup with Kansas State.
The visitors hold the all-time edge in this series, 6-5, going back to the 1966 Sugar Bowl, which Florida lost, 20-18. The two schools did not meet again until the Tigers joined the SEC in 2012; since then, they have split their 10 games facing each other.
