Former Vol Cordarrelle Patterson placed on injured reserve by Atlanta.

Atlanta has placed Cordarrelle Patterson on injured reserve.

The former Vol will be out at least four weeks after being placed on injured reserve Monday.

Patterson, a running back, wide receiver and return specialist for Atlanta, had a minor procedure Monday according to Falcons’ head coach Arthur Smith.

Patterson, Atlanta’s feature running back, has experienced knee problems this season, limiting his time on the practice field.

The former Vol rushed for 38 yards and one touchdown Sunday in the Falcons’ 23-20 victory against Cleveland.

He played wide receiver and was a kick returner for Tennessee in 2012 under head coach Derek Dooley.

Patterson was a first round pick in the 2013 NFL draft and was selected with the No. 39 overall pick by Minnesota.

Patterson also played for the Raiders, New England and Chicago.
