Patrick Mahomes went into Tampa Bay on Sunday night and did just about everything he wanted to do against Tom Brady and the Bucs as his three touchdown passes led the Chiefs to an easy 41-31 win over the team that beat them on the very same field a few years ago in Super Bowl 57.
After the game Mahomes and Brady shared a quick handshake and a hug near midfield. The QBs told each other that they loved each other, which was nice. Mahomes wished Brady good luck the rest of the way the season, which was respectful. And Brady told Mahomes “You look great. Keep it up.”

Ya think, Tom!? I know Brady was being the good guy there but he stated the obvious about Mahomes and his play because what Mahomes did last night, and what he’s done so far this season, has been pretty darn magical yet again.
Did you see that scrambling TD “throw” that Mahomes had early in last night’s game? That was the type of play that only he can and would make happen.
Did you see the trick play Mahomes pulled off for another TD? Mahomes was so good on the play and he didn’t even touch the football on the clever call. His acting skills sold that one and the Chiefs got another easy six points.
Did you see this silly throw that he somehow completed while being taken down to the ground?
Have you see how good the Chiefs’ offense has looked this year even without Tyreek Hill, who is now with the Dolphins?
Here's where the Chiefs' offense ranks through 4 games of the post-Tyreek Hill era:
EPA/drive: 1st
Pts./drive: 1st
Offensive PPG: 2nd
Success rate: 3rdPatrick Mahomes is 1st among starting QBs in EPA per pass play.

Yeah, I, too, would say Mahomes looks pretty good so far!
I’m not making fun of Brady for saying that. I’m more pointing out how obviously good Mahomes continues to play the game of football.
He makes it look so easy.
He makes it look so fun.
And he’s making it look like the Chiefs should be considered the favorites to win the AFC and get back to the Super Bowl for the first time since they lost to the Bucs.
Speaking of the Super Bowl, it’s been three years since Mahomes got his only title. It felt like he’d easily win a bunch more after that victory over the 49ers in Miami but winning rings in the NFL is very hard to do.
Though if Mahomes keeps playing like this, it might be a heck of a lot easier for the Chiefs to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in Arizona this February.
