Tough break for former UNC quarterback [autotag]Mitch Trubisky[/autotag], getting benched as the Pittsburg Steelers started the second half.
Trubisky won the starting job this off-season, with many wondering how long he had until rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett would take over. That change would occur four weeks into the season after the Steelers’ offense failed to move the ball efficiently in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Jets.
Trubisky, in the first half, had completed seven on 14 passes for 84 yards and two interceptions. The Trubisky-led offense had struggled to gain any momentum in the four weeks, losers of the last two games.
It hadn’t been all bad for Trubisky, playing mistake-free football before today’s game. Trubisky had 569 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the first three matchups. Unfortunately, the slow pace offense wasn’t enough, and now he awaits his turn again.
