The Miami Dolphins dropped their first game of the 2022 season on Thursday night at Paycor Stadium, as the Cincinnati Bengals walked away with a 27-15 victory.
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s injury was the biggest storyline of the night. He was slammed down on his back and head, and he remained down on the field for an inordinate amount of time before being stretchered off. While the Amazon Prime broadcast announced that he’s being released from the hospital, it was an extremely scary situation.
When it came to the actual performance of the Dolphins, their offense needed to be more efficient and get into the end zone. Two interceptions also significantly impacted their chances of winning.
Defensively, Miami was serviceable. They completely shut down the run, holding the Bengals to 2.2 yards per attempt on the ground. In the passing game, they were allowed to complete 65.6% of their passes for 304 yards and two touchdowns. It’s tough to see slow down that offense, especially when Xavien Howard is sidelined for a good chunk of the second half.
Throughout the game, fans were emotional, as you’d expect any fan to be.
