First injury report for Commanders vs. Cowboys, Week 4

The first injury report for Dallas week has several Commanders listed.

It’s Dallas week. That doesn’t have quite the same ring as it once did, but it’s still an important game on Washington’s schedule. Coming off an ugly 24-8 home loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Commanders can’t afford a third consecutive loss Sunday in Dallas.

One key for Washington is some good injury luck. In their first practice of the week, the Commanders were without two starters on the offensive line. Left tackle Charles Leno [shoulder] and center Wes Schweitzer [concussion] missed practice. For a unit that struggled badly last week, the Commanders can’t afford to be without Leno or Schweitzer against the Cowboys, who lead the NFL in sacks.

Several players were limited for Washington on Wednesday. Right tackle Sam Cosmi [knee], reserve offensive tackle Saahdiq Charles [shoulder], linebacker Milo Eifler [ankle], defensive end James Smith-Williams [abdomen], cornerback Benjamin St-Juste [hamstring], defensive end Casey Toohill [concussion] and defensive tackle Daniel Wise [ankle] were all limited.

Cornerback William Jackson III [back] and linebacker David Mayo [ankle] practiced fully.

We’ll see how things are by Friday, but it’s concerning seeing that many key names on the injury report for the Commanders.

As for the Cowboys, quarterback Dak Prescott [thumb] did not practice. Prescott is eyeing a Week 5 return. Safety Jayron Kearse, defensive DeMarcus Lawrence, guard Connor McGovern and tight end Dalton Schultz were all limited for the Cowboys. Lawrence is coming off a monster game vs. Giants.
