Penn State fans looking to satisfy their taste buds will be able to do so with the first official public beer sales in Beaver Stadium beginning this Saturday. After the Penn State board of trustees voted in favor of a proposal to expand the sales of beer in public areas of Beaver Stadium, the taps will officially be opened for Penn State’s home game against Northwestern on Saturday, October 1.
A statement from Penn State’s athletics department confirmed beer will be available for purchase throughout Beaver Stadium and multiple concession areas with the exception of the student section concessions. Anyone 21 years old or above will be permitted to purchase a maximum of two beverages at any one time. Beer will be sold in 16 oz. cans.
To help expedite customer turnaround, all beer sales will be cashless. The selling of alcohol will also be cut off at the end of the third quarter, and fans will not be allowed to leave the stadium with alcohol.
Penn State is the latest school around the country to decide to sell alcohol at sporting events on campus as the trend continues to grow throughout the country. The revenue generated from the sale of beer will be a nice addition to the profits even with beer only being available for just over half of the season.
