The stars of the Carolina Panthers’ Week 3 victory over the New Orleans Saints didn’t come out of Sunday without paying somewhat of a price. And their receipts, with the Arizona Cardinals ahead in Week 4, showed up on today’s injury report.
Right off the top, running back Christian McCaffrey—per usual—was held out of Wednesday’s session. This time, however, the star rusher was listed with a thigh injury rather than the normal “rest” designation he’s usually assigned with.
Head coach Matt Rhule, in perhaps his best Bill Belichick impression, told reporters that they’ll take McCaffrey’s issue day by day.
“He didn’t practice today, as normal,” Rhule said. “Has a quad that he’s dealin’ with, so hopefully we’ll know more tomorrow. Check him day by day.”
McCaffrey is fresh off his second consecutive 100-yard rushing performance. He paced the Carolina offense with 25 carries for 108 yards in the 22-14 victory.
Horn and Shenault Jr., whose lockdown and breakout performances also headlined the win, were down as limited participants.
