It’s been more than a decade since the last Ninja Gaiden came out, and it’ll probably be a while longer before we see another. Team Ninja isn’t opposed to another installment, but company president Fumihiko Yasuda believes it would require a fresh perspective.
During an interview with VGC, Yasuda spoke about the possibility of reviving Ninja Gaiden and whether it was an internal effort at Team Ninja or another studio entirely.
“[If] we were to theoretically work with another company on a new Ninja Gaiden title, we would need to make sure that it would be a title that the fans would really enjoy and exceed their expectations,” Yasuda said. “It’s not just a matter of, ‘hey, let’s just go do this’ – all the pieces would need to fit, and it would need to be the right team… either a younger team internally or another company that would really need to fit the Ninja Gaiden pedigree.”

Currently, Team Ninja is busy making Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and Rise of the Ronin. So it’s understandable that another Ninja Gaiden could only happen if there were more hands to help.
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge was the last installment, and it came out in November 2012. Since then, Team Ninja put out Nioh and Nioh 2 – action RPGs are more of the studio’s thing now.
