The Buffs are down bad.
After an auspicious 0-4 start, many are wondering just what exactly is wrong with the Colorado Buffaloes. The team has gotten blown out in all four of its games this season, conjuring memories of last year’s dismal 4-8 squad.
Colorado beat writer Brian Howell did some math on just how horrible Colorado’s season has been going. The numbers, er, aren’t good.
From my own research, the list of Power 5 teams that have started a season with 4 consecutive losses by 25-plus points:
1893 – Tennessee
1921 – UCLA
1932 – Louisville
1950 – Virginia Tech
1957 – Indiana

Colorado head coach Karl Dorrell will be dusting off a place on the hot seat if he can’t get the Buffaloes back in the good graces of the win column after this historically terrible start.
His team, at the moment, is one of the worst Power 5 squads since the Dwight D. Eisenhower administration.
When the team fell to 0-3, Colorado athletic director Rick George chose to put out a statement basically apologizing for the team being so bad.

Enjoy a victory against UCLA, they did not. They lost, 45-17.
Things are so bad for the Buffs that our Christian D’Andrea has offered up an alcoholic beverage to help wash away the pains of the fan base’s Saturday sorrows.
It doesn’t help morale that Colorado heads into a brutal Pac-12 stretch in the next couple weeks. The Buffs face a 2-2 Arizona team on the road next Saturday before its bye week.
After that likely needed respite, a homestand against a 3-1 California Oct. 15 awaits before a road trip out to Corvallis to face off against a 3-1 Oregon State on Oct. 22.
If Colorado can’t get it together, its first winnable game of the new year might be against 1-3 Arizona State at home on Oct. 29, a team that just canned head coach Herm Edwards after four seasons and change in Tempe.
So, y’know, hang in there, Colorado fans. Life in Boulder probably won’t get any better anytime soon barring a major turnaround.
Just remember, though, it could always be worse for our friends at Folsom Field.
