Boise State quarterback Hank Bachmeier has decided to enter his name in the transfer portal, according to Bronco Nation News. This season has not been kind to Bachmeier and some of it has to do with more shuffling along the offensive line which was a big issue last season.

The Broncos are fresh off one of their worst losses ever in school history by falling to UTEP, 27-10. In that loss to the Miners, Bachmeier had a rough night completing just 13 of 34 passes for 93 yards with a touchdown.

Boise State make a coaching a move to relieve offensive coordinator Tim Plough of his duties and elevate Dirk Koetter from offensive analyst to offensive coordinator. Koetter is also a former Boise State coach.

Bachmeier has started since he was a true freshman all the way back in 2019 and since he has played fewer than four games this year means he can redshirt. Then including the freebie COVID-19 year, Bachmeier will have two years of eligibility.

Players can not officially enter the transfer portal until the day after the College Football Playoff matchups are set which is Monday, Dec. 5.

In four starts this season for Boise State, Bachmeier completed just 54.3% of his passes for 497 yards and had six touchdowns and three interceptions. For his career, Bachmeier started 29 games.

This ushers in the Taylen Green era for Boise State and assumingly will be starting against San Diego State this Friday night at home.. Green has played sparingly under center this season for the Broncos. He has completed 19 of 28 passes for 155 yards with an interception, plus he has ran for 102 yards on 11 rushes with a pair of touchdowns.
