Well, none of that went according to plan. From the jump, the Kansas State Wildcats were in control of this matchup with the Oklahoma Sooners, taking a quick 14-point lead.
Even after Oklahoma recovered from its sluggish start, it never felt like the Sooners had a great grasp on what Kansas State was trying to do offensively. The defense didn’t play well, allowing Adrian Martinez to rumble for 148 rushing yards and four touchdowns while adding 234 passing yards and another score.
Offensively, the Sooners hit some big plays in the passing game but struggled to put drives together. Pre-snap penalties and passing game miscues took the wind out of Oklahoma’s sails in the second half as they attempted to mount their comeback.
Despite a late push, Kansas State was the far better team on the field, and the Sooners go back to the drawing board ahead of their week five road trip to face the TCU Horned Frogs.
