App State blew a 28-3 lead to James Madison, and of course college football fans had jokes

Obviously.

Appalachian State fans found out what happens when your team blow a 28-3 lead… jokes, embarrassment and lots of references to the Atlanta Falcons.

Despite wearing fancy helmets Saturday against James Madison, the Mountaineers went scoreless in the second half to the Dukes and lost 32-28.

App State had James Madison toasted, you guessed it, 28-3 in the first half before leading 28-10 at the break. Though, the Mountaineers, like the Atlanta Falcons who immortalized the 28-3 blown lead, forgot that you have to score points in the second half to win the game. James Madison certainly did not, rallying for a 22-point comeback to keep its perfect record.

The now 3-0 Dukes entered the day as a popular underdog at +6.5 on the betting lines, meaning that they covered the spread and then some.
