UNC returns to the football field on Saturday for a highly-anticiapted matchup against Notre Dame, despite the Fighting Irish’s struggles this season.
At 3-0, UNC is hoping to move to 4-0 and beat Notre Dame for the first time since 2008. And the Fighting Irish are a vulnerable team with the 1-2 record and losses to Ohio State and Marshall.
Before the game, we talked to Fighting Irish Wire about the strengths of UNC’s defense, one that has struggled so far this year. Despite those struggles, there have been positives for the defense including a few key players.
Here’s what Zack Pearson of Tar Heels Wire had to say about what the potential strength of the defense is to Fighting Irish Wire:
“When UNC has had success on the defensive side, it’s been the front seven. They have generated pressure with Myles Murphy, Desmond Evans, Kaimon Rucker and transfer Noah Taylor. They only have 6 sacks on the year total but they’ve been generating some pressure on quarterbacks. If they can win up front, it could be a long day for Notre Dame.”
