Here are CBS Sports’ thoughts on the Florida-Tennessee matchup

CBS Sports has some serious concerns about Florida’s ability to contain Tennessee’s offense.

Florida football travels to Knoxville this weekend for its first road game of the 2022 campaign. At the end of the journey awaits the Tennessee Volunteers, a team that has seemingly taken a step forward in the second year of the Josh Heupel era, bringing in a perfect 3-0 record after a strong start to the season.

Things have not been quite so smooth for the Gators in Gainesville under new head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag]. After seizing an upset win over the Utah Utes in Week 1, the Orange and Blue stumbled against the Kentucky Wildcats in a Week 2 loss and almost collapsed against the South Florida Bulls last weekend — all in the friendly confines of the Swamp.

CBS Sports’s Barrett Sallee took a stab at what he thinks of the upcoming matchup between two SEC East rivals, and much like the bookmakers, is favoring the Vols by a double-digit margin. Here is Sallee’s overall take on what he expects on Saturday.

It is impossible to trust Richardson in a shootout, and that’s exactly what Tennessee’s offense — led by quarterback Hendon Hooker — will do on Saturday afternoon. The underrated Volunteers defense will create enough havoc plays to keep the Gators off schedule, which will spell disaster for a Gators offense that isn’t a threat through the air at all. The party on Rocky Top after beating Florida for the first time since 2016 will be legendary.

Florida and Tennessee are slated to face off in Neyland Stadium on Saturday starting at 3:30 p.m. EDT and can be watched on CBS Sports as well as heard on the Gators Radio Network.
