The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are dangerously thin at wide receiver as they prepare for their home opener in Week 3, so they’ve called in some reinforcements.
With Mike Evans serving a one-game suspension, and both Chris Godwin and Julio Jones having missed Week 2 due to injury, the Bucs signed veteran Cole Beasley to the practice squad this week.
Beasley can be elevated from the practice squad for up to three games without having to use a spot on the 53-man active roster.
After his first practice with the team on Wednesday, Beasley admitted that he slid into Bucs quarterback Tom Brady’s DMs, trying to advertise his services as a reliable target for the GOAT (via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times):

If Godwin and Jones are unable to suit up again this week, Beasley could end up providing a boost for a Bucs receiving corps that struggled with drops in last week’s 20-10 win over the New Orleans Saints.
