Packers to wear home uniforms on the road vs. Buccaneers

As expected, the Packers will be wearing their green home uniforms on the road in Tampa Bay on Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be wearing all white for their home opener against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon at Raymond James Stadium, meaning Matt LaFleur’s team will be in their traditional home green uniforms for the road contest.

It’s an expected development. In 2020, the Buccaneers wore white tops and pewter pants, forcing the Packers into their home uniforms. Tampa Bay won the game, 38-10.

This year, the Bucs are going all white: white tops, white pants. The Packers will wear green tops and yellow pants.

Many southern teams, especially in Florida, wear white at home early in the season in an attempt to reflect more of the sun and stay cool. Wearing darker colors is believed to absorb more sunlight and retain more heat. It’s one way for teams in hotter climates to get an edge.

The current forecast for Sunday in Tampa Bay calls for temps nearing 90, with mostly sunny skies. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:25 p.m. CT.

The Buccaneers have been wearing white at home, especially early in the season, for years and years.
