The No. 10 Arkansas Razorbacks are preparing this week for No. 20 Texas A&M, which will be the most important game on the schedule to date.
The Razorbacks will travel away from Reynolds Razorback Stadium for the first time all season this Saturday. However, the circumstances work out for Arkansas, as they will meet the Aggies on a neutral field, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Monday, Arkansas head coach [autotag]Sam Pittman[/autotag] was asked about how different his preparations are for preparing for a neutral site game. He says that he enjoys the uniqueness of the event.
“You don’t normally walk into a stadium and it’s even-Steven fans,” Pittman said Monday during his weekly press conference. “Hotels have similar number of occupants from both teams. It’s really cool. Being in (Jerry) Jones’ stadium is really neat.”
The usual routine of teams traveling, is to do a brief walkthrough in the stadium once the team arrives to town. Pittman’s strategy will be different ahead of playing in the home of the Dallas Cowboys.
“I didn’t take the team in there last year, which I’m not either this year on a Friday. I said ‘oh it’s just a stadium,” Pittman said. “But I haven’t been in there since 13, 14, 15. Yeah, there’s really something neat about that.”
Arkansas has played Texas A&M 78 times in history, and has played consecutively since 2009. In their stretch of 13 straight seasons of playing, Arkansas and Texas A&M have played in Arlington every year with the exception of 2012, 2013, and 2020.
The two programs elected to play a home-and-home series for the first two season’s of Texas A&M’s move to the SEC. The only other time that these two have not met in Arlington since 2009, was the 2020 pandemic. The teams played at Kyle Field on October 31 that season.
