AP Top 25: Penn State makes big move up in updated AP poll

The AP Top 25 is out for Week 3. Where is Penn State ranked this week?

Penn State continues to be moving on up in the national rankings. The Nittany Lions made a solid move up into the top 15 in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, and they made a similar jump up the AP Top 25 on Sunday following a convincing victory at Auburn in Week 3.

Penn State moved up eight spots in this week’s AP Top 25, jumping from 22 up to No. 14 after a 41-12 victory at Auburn. The AP voters have Penn State ranked one spot higher than the Nittany Lions appear in the coaches poll, a trend that carries over from last week’s polls; Penn State was No. 23 in the coaches poll last week.

Penn State moved ahead of No. 16 Ole Miss, No. 17 Baylor, No. 19 BYU, No. 20 Florida, No. 21 Wake Forest, and No. 22 Texas amid some reorganization in the AP poll. Penn State also moved ahead of Michigan State after the Spartans dropped out of the top 25 this week.

There was no change in the top seven of this week’s AP poll. Georga remains on top, followed by Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson, Oklahoma, and USC, respectively. Kentucky moved one spot ahead of Oklahoma State after the two schools swapped rankings. Arkansas remained at No. 10 to round out the top 10.

Other schools sitting in front of Penn State and the top 10 include No. 11 Tennessee, No. 12 NC State, and No. 13 Utah.
