The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have delivered a dominant Week 1 performance in Sunday night’s 19-3 road win over the Dallas Cowboys, but they also suffered a pair of losses that could have a huge impact on their offense in Week 2.
Wide receiver Chris Godwin and left tackle Donovan Smith both left Sunday night’s game in the first half, and did not return. Godwin suffered a strained hamstring, while Smith sustained a hyperextended elbow.
Neither practiced on Wednesday, and after the session, Bucs head coach Todd Bowles told the media he didn’t have an updated prognosis on either of them.
“Not at this time,” Bowles said. “They’re just getting treatment, and we’ll see how it goes at the end of the week.”
So, the update is . . . there is no update, at least not yet.
Bowles said earlier in the week that both injuries didn’t appear to be as serious as they originally feared, which hopefully bodes well for their eventual return, even if that’s not Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
