Von Miller spent half of last season with Cooper Kupp and the Los Angeles Rams, helping them win Super Bowl LVI. He regularly praised Kupp and his talent as a wide receiver, and those feelings haven’t changed now that Miller is in Buffalo.
During a recent interview with Bleacher Report, Miller compared NFL players to NBA stars. When asked who the Steph Curry of the NFL is, he said Kupp. His explanation wasn’t perfect, but you could see where he was going with it.
“My Steph of the NFL would have to be Cooper Kupp,” Miller said. “Nice, clean-shaven. Wins championships, is the best at his position. Been the best for a very long time. Doesn’t have a super flashy game but is super effective and he racks up all types of records and all types of points.”
Kupp isn’t clean-shaven, nor has he been the best at his position for a very long time. In fact, it’s just the opposite. He has a thick beard and just recently became the top receiver in football last year after a historic 2021 season.
Where Miller nailed his analysis is in the fact that Kupp doesn’t have a flashy game. He wins with route running and understanding coverages, while also making defenders miss in the open field after hauling in the pass. He also did rack up a bunch of records and score 16 touchdowns, so Miller was right about that, too.
Kupp should take this as a compliment because being compared to Curry is never a bad thing.
