The Cleveland Browns were carried by a great performance by their defense in the first half and a dominant performance from their top two running backs throughout the game. While the game came down to a big kick by rookie kicker Cade York, the rushing attack got the team the lead and was consistent most of the game versus the Carolina Panthers.
RB Nick Chubb led the way with 141 yards on 22 attempts. He had one reception for two yards. His backup, Kareem Hunt, had 11 carries for 46 yards to go along with four receptions for 24 yards. Hunt had both of the Browns touchdowns, one on the ground and one through the air.
For fantasy football owners, Chubb and Hunt could cause frustration this season.
Despite less usage, Hunt had the third-highest running back points in a standard PPR league after the end of the first window of games on Sunday with 23 points. Chubb, on the other hand, was 12th at the same time with just 15.3 points despite a great day rushing the football.
From week to week, it will be tough for fantasy owners to decide how much value either of Cleveland’s backs will have. After Week 1, Hunt vultured much of Chubb’s fantasy value.
For Browns fans, it doesn’t matter who gets the carries, catches or touchdowns as long as the scoreboard ends up in their team’s favor. Sunday, the team needed both Chubb and Hunt while fantasy owners are left wondering their strategy for the future.
