Saints score 17 straight points in 4th quarter, stun Falcons

The New Orleans Saints stunned the Atlanta Falcons with a late rally

The New Orleans Saints made sure Dennis Allen will never forget his first game as their head coach.

Trailing by 16 points in the fourth quarter, Michael Thomas caught a pair of TD passes and Wil Lutz hit a 51-yard field goal with 19 seconds left as New Orleans rocked Atlanta, 27-26.

The winning drive came took 29 seconds and covered 47 yards over 5 plays.

A pair of players who New Orleans missed in 2021 delivered for them big time as both Thomas and Smith missed the entire season due to injuries.

Lutz was far from a sure thing beyond 50 yards as he had hit on 13-of-23 from that distance prior to this opening game.

The Falcons had a chance to win the game with 2 seconds left but Younghoe  Koo’s kick was blocked.
