At the start of the second half, San Diego State had multiple fumbles that Idaho State recovered. Unfortunately for the Bengals, they could not capitalize and turn the two turnovers into points.
San Diego State kicker Jack Browning made it a 17-point game, 24-7, with a 20-yard field goal with 2:32 left in the third quarter.
With 8:35 to go in the fourth quarter, Burmeister found Shavers for a 14-yard touchdown. This score put the Aztecs ahead by 24 points, 31-7. Running back Cam Davis pushed the lead to 38-7 with a rushing touchdown. The Aztecs finished the game with a 38-7 victory.
