Scott Turner has funny response on facing Brandon Scherff for the first time

Brandon Scherff isn’t the only starting guard playing his former team Sunday.

Brandon Scherff departed the Washington Commanders in March after spending the first seven seasons of his NFL career with the organization. Scherff signed a three-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars on the first day of free agency.

On Sunday, Scherff returns to Washington for the first time as a visitor, which he said will be “weird.

Scherff isn’t the only guard facing his former team Sunday. New Washington left guard Andrew Norwell spent the past four seasons as Jacksonville’s starting left guard.

When Washington offensive coordinator Scott Turner met with the media Thursday, he was asked about playing against Scherff for the first time. Turner had a classic answer.

“I thought it was the Andrew Norwell revenge game, right,” Turner said.

He was joking. Turner went on to praise Scherff as a player and a person and wished him well. Whether Scherff ever truly wanted to return or not, it’s clear he remains popular with his former teammates and coaches.
