Philadelphia 76ers guard Furkan Korkmaz has had one wild EuroBasket 2022.
He has dealt with back spasms that kept him out for a game. He was involved in an on-court altercation with some Georgian players, and he was followed and attacked in the tunnel afterward.
In four games at EuroBasket, Korkmaz is averaging 11.4 points and he’s shooting 50% from the floor and 31.6% from deep. In some games, he has found a groove, and, in others, he has struggled.
Either way, he and his native country of Turkey advanced from their group and they will take on France on Saturday.
HoopsHype put together a list ranking each player at EuroBasket and Korkmaz came in ranked 71st on the list. As far as NBA players at EuroBasket are concerned, he is behind Portland Trail Blazers big man Jusuf Nurkic who is ranked 70th, and just ahead of Phoenix Suns forward Dario Saric who is ranked 88th.
The rankings get updated daily, so Korkmaz has a chance to move up if he can put on a big performance on Saturday against France. A big game would also give him a confidence boost as he gets set for his sixth season in Philadelphia. He had a down year in the 2021-22 season, and he needs a better season to stay in the rotation.
