Michigan football moved up into the top 5 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, but with the AP Top 25, the Wolverines’ move was a little more drastic.
In the coaches poll, the maize and blue were No. 6 and moved up one spot to No. 5 after a 51-7 Week 1 win over Colorado State. While they impressed the coaches, the voters in the AP Top 25 were even more impressed.
The preseason AP Top 25 saw the Wolverines come in at No. 8, but after Week 1, Michigan has moved all the way up to No. 4. While the College Football Playoff rankings are what really matter, the maize and blue would be ‘in’ at this moment, one game into the season, if these rankings were what carried the most weight.
